Breezes Curacao Resort is perfect for diving

Curacao has a rich historical past starting with the Arawak Indians who migrated from South America thousands of years ago. In the late 1600's Curacao became a major center for commerce starting with the Spanish and later the Dutch who laid claim to numerous Islands in the Caribbean. The Dutch West India Company established farming and a slave trade resulting in a permanent Dutch presence on the island. The local language is a composite of African, Spanish and Dutch roots. Architecture on the island has very strong Dutch influence which is quite unique and is appreciated by international heritage groups.

Oil refining became a large part of the Curacao Island economy due to it's proximity to Venezuela. Curacao today is part of the Netherlands Antilles. Curacao is surrounded by coral reefs and is excellent for scuba diving year round. The southern coast of Curacao with its calm waters attracts scuba divers who visit the coral reefs, wrecks and caves.

Curacao's spectacular underwater reefs attract scuba divers and skin divers from around the world.  The Curacao Tourism & Development Bureau was established to attract scuba tourists to the island. Scuba diver reviews have been very positive and dive travel sites seem unanimous with review accolades. You can find Curacao diving reviews at skin-diver.com and under "Curacao Scuba" on trip advisor.

At Breezes Curacao, resort guests can scuba dive daily right from the shore. There is a famous reef which includes "the Car Pile" which starts shallow and drops off to deeper waters. One tank shore dive is included with the stay at Breezes Curacao. Additional tank rentals and boat dive excursions can be added at the on site PADI dive center. The divemasters at Breezes Curacao's Ocean Encounters office run a very organized shop providing dive tourists all equipment and professional scuba lessons and PADI scuba specialties instruction.
